Ho hum another 1/1

My blogging energy today for posting new Cutch cards at Collecting Cutch is tapped out.  I can't think of anything worth posting except a few Topps Chrome cards I picked up in a group break.

It's been awhile since I have shown off any non Cutch cards in my collection so I thought I would show my other main PC, the Charlie Morton collection.

While he is no longer with the Pirates, I am still grabbing Morton cards whenever I come across them.

Here's two I have got in the past 6 months.

Let's start with the big one.

The Superfractor!!!!  This is my second Superfractor of the NJ born pitcher, but my first in a Pirates uniform.

This card hails from the 2016 Topps Chrome Sapphire Blue set.  There weren't many parallels to chase for this set, but I'm happy I was able to snag this new 1/1 for the collection.

I also grabbed this miscut double foil card of Ground Chuck.

Notice the foil in the top left corner with the Topps logo upside down

McCutchen Mailday #86: THE GRAIL SUPERFRACTOR

As sports cards collectors, we look for several things when seeking out that Holy Grail of cards.  It could be a rookie, a 1 of 1, an autograph, a "sick" patch.  These are all things that come to mind.

For me, the Grail McCutchen cards was adding a Superfractor from one of his first Bowman releases (2005 Draft, 2008 Futures Game, or 2009 Bowman Rookie Card).

I can check that last one off the list.

Behold it's most majestic form.
Official rookie card Superfractor.

A Superfractor Rookie Card of a player on the path for the Hall of Fame and my main player PC.  I don't know if 2016 will bring me much more success than adding this beauty to the collection, but even if the rest of the year fall's short, I'm ok with what  I have added thus far in my 2016 Cutch PC additions.

Let's just check out the backside of this beauty
Look at that sexy 1/1 in the bottom right corner.

McCutchen Mailday #200: My first Superfractor of Cutch

This is it!!!! The big new addition to the Cutch PC this year as I have doubled my goal to add 100 new Cutch cards.

I've already shown off a few of the these Gallery of Greats chasing the rainbow parallels.
The rainbow is almost complete. I still need that darn base version though.

Jameson Taillon Superfractor!!!!

It's been nearly 5 years since Jameson Taillon was drafted out of high school with the #2 overall pick in 2010.  Since then Taillon has progressed a level each year, pitched in the 2012 Futures Game, and also served on Team Canada for the WBC striking out 3 members of Team USA in 3 innings of work.  Sadly he has also been sidelined for the past year and change recovering from Tommy John surgery.

I suspect that Taillon will get back to the mound for minor league games soon and could be a pitcher to keep an eye on if there is a string of injuries or ineffectiveness from one of the main starters.

The MLB Draft is tonight and I'm hoping the Pirates continue to add to their already stocked farm system with more elite talent.  The Pirates lower levels are filled with position players so maybe selecting a high school arm with the #19 overall selection is the way to go.

Around tax return time I snagged this 1/1 superfractor of the former first rounder, Jameson Taillon.  It marks my 3rd Superfractor.

My Second Ever Superfractor

I finally added another Superfractor to my collection and it's of one of the Pirates top pitching prospects.

Nick Kingham!!!!

I got a chance to watch Nick Kingham pitch in Trenton last weekend and he was fantastic.  His fastball reached 97mph and his line really doesn't do it justice.  7 innings pitched, 3 earned runs, 6K/0BB, 6 hits.  I really like the idea of a nearly homegrown rotation in 2016 and beyond.

I don't think that Nick is a true ace like pitcher, but I can see him being a great innings eater with good strikeout rates and being very under rated in the league.

I FINALLY OWN A SUPERFRACTOR!!!!

Can you belive this???
2008 Bowman Chrome Superfractor 1/1

Me neither!!!

This is the first Bowman Superfractor that I own and I was pumped when I saw it on ebay.  For around $60, I was able to add another 1/1 of my favorite MLB pitcher.  It doesn't get much better than this.
