McCutchen Mailday #251, 252, and 253: 3 MORE 1/1s

I have already added an insane amount of Andrew McCutchen cards to my collection this year.
I've even added almost 40 1/1s to the PC this year.  That would be exciting for any collector.  However, I really think that I have outdone myself with this recent group of cards I have purchased.

I got in contact with a seller who has dealt me some nice Cutch cards in the past that he's won in group breaks and beaten me on eBay a few times.  I was trying to win a triple booklet of Cutch's All-Star sleeve from 2015 Triple Threads but ended up losing it.  Patience proved to be a virtue as after a few months, I was able to acquire from the winning bidder.

This card (along with it's custom case I will never remove it from) is now the highlight of my Cutch collection.

McCutchen Mailday #250: Another Logoman!!!!

I started the year with 0 Andrew McCutchen logoman cards.

I will end it with 3, maybe 4 depending on the expediency of holiday shipping.

Throughout the year, I have managed to grab some absolutely astonishing cards of Cutch and I think that my PC of Cutch may be one of the best out there. 

Unlike the other Cutch cards I have, this one we do know where the relic is from.

McCutchen Mailday #189: A Trio of All-Stars!!!!

Back in April, I showed a triple All-Star jersey relic featuring Cutch, Carlos Gomez, and Yasiel Puig.  A few months later and 160 new additions to the Cutch PC, I have added another triple All-Star jersey relic featuring Cutch and Puig. 

However, this card features one of my favorite players (Josh Harrison) instead of that f-ing piece of $%*t Carlos Gomez.  I'm much happier to add a JHay jersey swatch to the collection with Cutch. 

This triple relic ran me around $20 for the /25 triple swatch. 

Welcome Back JHay All Day!!!! HUGE PICKUP!!!

Man am I glad to see this guy back in the starting lineup!!!!

The above booklet is from 2015 Allen & Ginter and features a Josh Harrison autograph along with a piece of his All-Star game jersey worn during the 2014 All-Star event.

JHay led the game off for the Bucs and is already back in his super utility role playing 2B yesterday.

McCutchen Mailday #48: All-Star Target Exclusive

My latest Quest for 100 new Cutch cards added to the PC in 2015 has yielded me a $1 purchase from 2014 Topps.  It's not a 1/1 like the other All-Star Game card I showed off earlier in the week, but technically it could be considered an ebay 1/1 since it is a Target exclusive and the 2014 All-Star game was played at Target Field.  I'm surprised no one has tried that yet.

McCutchen Mailday #47: 1/1 All-Star Game Letter "N" 2015 Topps

I honestly don't have a lot to say about this card besides WOW!!!!

My quest for 100 new Cutch cards to the collection in 2015 just got EPIC!!!
This "N" from Cutch's 2014 All-Star Workout jersey will go nicely with the "E" I have from Cutch's 2012 Workout Jersey.


Stay tuned though, cause it may not get better but there's more coming in terms of 1/1s...

McCutchen Mailday #29: 2014 All-Star Stictches

The first 2 months of the new year saw me add an average of 15 new McCutchen cards per month (well ahead of my estimated goal of 9 per month).  I've been trying my hardest to get the blog up to date, but events like my Go Green event through St. Patty's Day delayed showing off more Cutch cards than I could have.

I received this card on the last day of February and it marks my 29th unique NEW addition to my Cutch PC.  My pursuit to add 100 new Cutch cards by year's end seems like it won't be a problem at all.

I picked up this card for 2 reasons.

2014 Topps All-Star Stitches 5/25

1) I love getting Cutch All-Star jersey relics

2) Since I am primarily a team collector, I don't usually add cards of some of the game's best players unless they appear on a card with Cutch.  Adding a jersey of Yasiel Puig was a nice addition.  I could certainly do without that piece of $#&@ Carlos Gomez on the card though.  

Carlos Gomez is my least favorite player in baseball today in case you weren't already aware.

McCutchen Mailday #25: 2014 All-Star Stitches Topps Chrome

I thought that I had purchased an All-Star stitches relic card of Cutch each year for the past four years, but just discovered that I still never got his 2013 All-Star game jersey card held at CitiField.  I'll have to add that one to my wants as my Quest for 100 New Cutch cards in the Cutch PC reaches the quarter century mark in 2015.

I was very happy to add this 2014 Topps All-Star card to my collection for a winning bid of $4.99.

Now, I'm going to have to track down that 2013 All-Star stitch

McCutchen Mailday #8: 2014 Topps All-Star Game Fan Fest

In my quest for 100 new unique Andrew McCutchen cards to add to my collection this year, I have already hit several older cards that I've been wanting to add to the collection for a long time.

Today is a very recent card that was only available in factory sets.

I'm a sucker for cards of Cutch with an All-Star logo and being able to snag this card for less than $5 delivered struck a chord with me.

The back of the card is numbered AS-1 and tells of his accomplishments in each of his first 3 All-Star games he appeared in.  He's currently 2 for 8 with 2 stolen bases over his 4 All-Star Games.

McCutchen Mailday #6: 2014 Topps All-Star All Access

Another addition to the Quest for 100 and I am $8.25 less in my wallet.  The All-Star Game Access cards are very tough to pull and are retail exclusives that I believe come 1:3 hangers.

The 2014 All-Star game saw the Pittsburgh Pirates send a starter to the All-Star game for the first time since Jason Bay in 2006.  Cutch would prove the fans right for selecting him when he hit a single up the middle, then went on to steal third base.

It's weird to think that Cutch is already a 4 time All-Star.  He's been one of the leagues best players the past few years and is turning in a very nice career as he begins to enter his prime years.

How are you guys enjoying my Quest for 100?  Should I continue to do single card posts and show the backs?  Should I group the cards in blocks of 5?  Does anyone care that I'm trying to add 100 new unique Cutch cards to the collection?

Hey Now! You're An All-Star...

The Pirates sent three All-Stars to the 2014 All-Star game held in Minnesota this year.  The obvious choice was Andrew McCutchen as he was voted in by the fans.  The secondary and questionable choices were Tony Watson and Josh Harrison.  Watson was just downright filthy prior to the All-Star break and was arguably the best setup man in the NL.  Harrison was the most questionable player selected as an All-Star especially since he wasn't even a starter for the team he plays for.  It was obvious that Clint Hurdle probably did some lobbying to get Harrison on the All-Star team.  Harrison was a huge spark plug for the Pirates starting in May and carrying all the way to the current games.  He is incredibly versatile being able to play 2B, SS, 3B, and either corner outfield position.  He's the only MLB player this season to throw a runner out at home from both RF and LF.  He's also done it from 2B and 3B this season.

At this year's All-Star FanFest Topps distributed oversized blank back cards of the members of the All-Star teams for fans to try and get signed.  I grabbed both Harrison and Watson off the Bay.  These two cards cost me $17 each.  I also grabbed a Clayton Kershaw which cost me only $6.  Evidently there is a lot more Pirates fans out there than I thought.

The past two nights have been tough losses for the Bucs against the Nats. Josh Harrison had a chance to win it for them Friday night but popped out in foul ground with both the tying and winning runs in scoring position. Tony Watson struggled mightily last night and gave up a 3 run lead in the 8th which the Pirates eventually lost in the 10th. Hopefully they can turn things around soon.
