McCutchen Mailday #2: It's Clear This Card is Rare

Getting back on track with another Andrew McCutchen pickup directly on the heels of yesterday's Strata pickup is this 2014 Topps Update Clear Acetate numbered 9/10. 

I've talked about these cards a few times since their release in 2014.  I even have 3 of the 10 Charlie Mortons from that series.

Topps Update is always good for capturing the All-Star game and this image of Cutch relaxing during batting practice is one of my favorite All-Star cards of Cutch.  I've picked up a few of the parallels already from this card, but may continue to attempt to build the rainbow.

I showed the back of the card because the front doesn't scan very well to pick up the acetate appearance.

What a crazy 24 hours it has been for Pirates fans!

Early Sunday morning, the Pirates came back in 14 innings to beat the Cardinals thanks to a walkoff 2 run homer by Andrew McCutchen.

24 hours later, the Pirates staged a 2 out rally to plate 3 runs in the bottom of the 10th. Sophomore right fielder delivered the walkoff on the first pitch he saw off Cardinals closer, Trevor Rosenthal.

This is just a badass card and its my latest Gregory Polanco autograph.

I didn't want to remove it from it's protective home so it didn't scan very well. The 2014 Topps Strata features a massive jumbo patch and on card autograph.

It's so Clear to me we need a Tony Tuesday

As the year is drawing towards the end, I think it's best that I show off nothing but sweet cards to end the year out.  Today's is a clear acetate parallel of the former 1st round draft pick and backup catcher for the Bucs entering the 2015 season.

I've previously stated how much I love this parallel when I showed off TWO Charlie Morton clear parallels I 've grabbed this year.  I hope Topps brings them back for 2015.

Way back in April I posted a 2014 Topps Clear Charlie Morton numbered 3/10.  Getting such a rare Morton for my collection was extremely exciting at the time and I feared I wouldn't see too many of them pop up.  So in my haste to add the card to my collection, I grabbed it for $27 delivered.

A few months later would lead me to another, which I happily purchased for $9.99 delivered.

I stuck a piece of cardboard behind the card to show how translucent the cards are.  In addition, check out the negative side of the card below.

I went to the Pirates game in Philadelphia last night and sure enough my main man Charlie hooked me up with an autograph batting practice baseball. Charlie is the best.

IT'S SO CLEAR, I HATE TO LOSE!!!

I hate losing!  Which is weird when you consider that a team I've rooted for a long time couldn't seem to win.  I'm extremely competitive when I'm at my job, or with my friends playing softball, but I'm equally competitive when trying to win auctions on ebay.  I hate to lose.  It happens though.  A lot of auctions I put bids on just as a flier.  You know the kind where you say, it would be nice to win this auction for this price, but I don't really need this card.

Such was NOT the case with the card you see below.  I had to win it.  The competitive side came out and I was bound and determined to add it to my collection, no matter the price.

 I had to show off the back of the card first, because it is just so unique looking.  To the best of my knowledge, this is the first time that Topps has produced Clear Acetate cards in this style before.  They are absolutely beautifully done and very low numbered.

The above is the front of the card numbered 3/10.  I was so caught up on winning this auction, I remember everything that lead up to me winning it.  I was heading on vacation last month with my girlfriend and we had just gotten to our hotel when I got the alert that the auction was ending soon.  We decided to hang out outside her car before heading into the hotel as I pulled out my phone and watched seconds tick by closer and closer to 0seconds.  I put in my final bid with seconds left and sniped the shit out of it.  Winning the card for (what I belive to be good value) just under $27 shipped.  Not knowing if anymore would be popping up soon, I had to add this to the collection and now that it's in my possession, I am going to search for the other 9.

Charlie Morton is on the hill tomorrow trying to get the Pirates closer to 1st place.
