Sunday Funday: Pirate Parrot Auto

I just put in a 12 hour day and I am extremely exhausted and frustrated.  On top of it, the Pirates lost to the Reds in the 9th inning when Chris Heisy hit his 2nd homerun of the afternoon.  I don't know why, but it feels like Heisy is one of those guys that just kills the Pirates, but struggles against the rest of the league.

Oh well...

Here's an uplifting card
From 2014 Topps Opening Day it's an autograph of the Pirate Parrot.  I think this ran me around $20-$25 shortly after OD came out.

The Pirate Parrot PC

On Sunday, I showed off my Pierogies Race insert from 2014 Opening Day.

I added another card of the Pirate Parrot to my collection last month when I added this 2014 Opening Day Between the Innings insert, "Prank the Opponent "

The Dodgers are facing off the Pirates again today. Hopefully we can run out a better lineup that doesn't include Michael Martinez.

Opening Day is almost Here!!!! Let's Celebrate!!!

Let's Go Bucs!!!

Here's hoping the Pirates Raise the Jolly Roger a lot in 2014.

I'm going to PC the Parrot.  I know it sounds ridiculous, but if anyone has cards featuring the Pirate Parrot...send them to me.

Another Contest Winner: Free Tribe Cards go to....

The Pirates beat the Tribe today 9-5.  Yesterday, they won 9-2.  Pedro Alvarez now has 4 homeruns in his last 7 at bats.  I hope he's starting to heat up again because he can carry this offense when his bat is hot.

Since the series was three games I'm going to randomize the entries 3 times

 Our winner is Coronado2010

You will be receiving the 4 Indians cards for this contest's winnings.

Since today's father's day I thought it would be nice to show off some recent pickups that remind me of my father.  When I was younger, my dad would always buy me baseball cards if we went out together.  There was a thrift store near the barber shop that would sell baseball stickers.  Every time my dad or I got our hair cut he would take me there and buy me a pack.  While I don't have any of the old stickers from the 80s or 90s, I did manage to recently buy a complete team set of the Bucs for $1.99 off ebay.  Stickers are fun!  They remind me of my childhood.  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!

The Pirates are off tomorrow then will head back home to Pittsburgh to face off against the Minnesota Twins.  I'm excited to see Ryan Doumit back in the burgh.

Here's what's available if the Pirates win the series against the Twins.
2 jersey relics: 1 of Christian Guzman and the other of 2012 draftee DJ Baxendale
a 2012 Heritage rookie card, a TC Mascot card, and a Miguel Sano top prospect card

Almost Perfect

The Pirates offense has been absolutely terrible this season thus far.  Entering Friday's game, they had an NL worse .199 team batting average.  That average went down even further after Matt Cain's near perfect game.  The Pirates need to find a way to jump start this offense.  With only 3 guys contributing to acceptable levels (McCutchen, Presley, and McGehee) the rest of the lineup looks to be automatic outs and more often than not a strike out.  The ball needs to be put in play more often or else the Pirates will continue to get beat in close ball games.

I do not want to see another almost perfect game thrown against the Pirates for the rest of the season.
Let's Go Bucs! Beat those Giants!!!!!

My favorite pitcher Charlie Morton will be taking the mound for the first time this season today.  Last year when the Pirates were in the middle of a 10 game losing streak, Charlie came in and pitched a gem against the Giants in San Fransisco.  Let's hope he can do it again today.

Tomorrow I will reveal the cards available for the Diamondbacks series that can be won, but you can start to say Let's Go Bucs! Beat the DBacks starting on this post.
