Football Sunday: The Bus has Arrived

Jerome Bettis is my favorite football player EVER!!!
Before he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, I set out a 2015 goal to add an autograph of him along with 2 Pittsburgh Steelers that have been inducted into the Hall.  When Bettis got inducted, I could have easily killed two birds with one stone as they say by just adding this to the PC.

I've already shown a few Canton enshrined autographs with Bradshaw, Greene, Ham, Blount, and Harris.  Bettis makes #6 on the year.  Another 2015 goal accomplished.

Q is for Quarter. That's good enough for me...

I'm trying to build up my Steelers collection.  There's a few players that I really like that always seem to find their way into the quarter bins, Heath Miller and Hines Ward.  Despite having great careers, these guys always end up in the quarter bins.  That's fine with me.  Unfortunately this time around I only found one Jerome "The Bus" Bettis.

Dodgerbobble Hooked me Up AGAIN!

Josh from Dodger Bobble made a trade with me about a month ago and sent me a pretty sweet collection of cards I needed for my PC.  The main card of the trade was a Frank Thomas jersey card I wanted.  He also sent over a few Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers in exchange for this collection of Dodger relics.

I was pretty happy with the trade being where it was.  Well Josh sent me over some more cards and I am extremely grateful to add these to my growing Penguins collection.  Look at how young Jaromir Jagr was when he was drafted.  I miss that mullet scoring goals for the Pens.

He also hooked me up with a Jerome Bettis and numbered Troy Polamalu.  I didn't have either of these so they are welcome additions to the collection.

To top things off I got a collection of Pirates.  Some I had, some I didn't.
The ones I didn't are fricking sweet additions.  I'll show the highlights below.
From the 2007 Topps Perez Sketch Cards subset is this Freddy Sanchez.  Sketch cards are awesome.  Even if they are reprinted inserts.  Freddy Sanchez is awesome even if he's not a Pirate anymore.

An AUTO of Abraham Nunez from 1999 Upper Deck ProSigns.  Nunez showed promise early in his career as being a super utility player, but never got enough playing time to show his skills.  Due to a lack of playing time and inability to shine when given starting roles, he had trouble sticking in the majors over his career.  Nunez' best season with the Pirates came in 2003 when he batted .248 with 9 triples, 37 runs scored, and 35 RBI.  That year he also hit 4 homeruns which was the most he would hit in a Pirates uniform.  After stints with the Cardinals, Phillies, and Mets, Nunez is currently playing for the NJ Jackals in the Canadian-American League.

Finally is 3 Andrew McCutchen cards that I previously didn't own.  The quickest way to win me over is by sending me a few Cutch cards for my PC.

With all these Dodger collectors I'm trading with, I don't think I'm going to have any Dodgers left by the end of the year.  Anyone need Steve Sax cards from 1988?  I got a few of those left.  Any interest?

Maz Monday: Celebrating the greatest defensive 2nd Baseman of all time

What a wild and crazy week I had.  It took the electric company 8 days to restore my power due to the massive flooding, broken poles, and uprooted trees from Hurricane Irene.  Fortunately, all I lost was power and there was very minimal flooding in the basement.  When the power came back on yesterday, it was the best birthday present I could have asked fore as it restored life as I knew it "back to normal".  The aftermath of Irene truly made me appreciate how much I take for granted everyday.  Without phone service, electricity, and having to take many detours on my road just to get into town to work I am truly more grateful for all that life has blessed me.  Thank you to those that sent messages and wished me well during the week.

I have received several trade packages as the post office began delivering mail again and will highlight those in future posts.

Today though I wanted to do something a little different and highlight the birthday of Bill Mazeroski.  Being a young dude, I didn't get a chance to see Maz play obviously.  However, I have seen numerous videos, interviews, and read many articles/books about Maz.

Last year I made the trek from NJ to Pittsburgh to celebrate my birthday and see Bill Mazeroski's statue unveiled on September 5th.  It was an awesome weeked overall, even though the Pirates lost to the Nationals for both games I was out there.  Here's some of the highlights

SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAZ! AND HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO YOUR STATUE

Now for the cards

Above is the relic cards I have of Maz that I previously had not posted.  I really like that Topps Stadium Series Seat card with the iconic image of Maz rounding 3rd after hitting the walk-off homerun in the 1960 World Series.  And because this card is so damn awesome I have reposted the Three Rivers Stadium Seat with Maz, Parker, and Madlock.  I have added a Bill Mazeroski folder to my Picasa photopage

On another note I went to my local card store yesterday and picked up a bunch of randomness along with supplies and some Jerome Bettis cards for the PC.  If anyone is interested in anything below, let me know.

Bettis, Revis, and Staal OH MY!!!!

Since I have been fighting off a viral infection the past couple days, I've had plenty of time to scan my relics and autos onto my computer.  I'm asking you the blogging world, what's the best way to display them on the interwebs?  I would like for people to quickly reference my collection without having to read every blog post that has been tagged with said player.  Is Picasa a good place to display? *PLEASE SAY YES SINCE THAT'S WHERE I'VE BEEN UPLOADING EVERYTHING TO*  How's my current setup?

I don't collect a lot of cards other than baseball.  I honestly don't even follow the other 3 sports nearly as much as baseball.  I follow the Penguins a little bit off and on throughout the season, mainly when they play NY or NJ teams since that's the only way I can watch the games on the TV.  Kris Letang is by far my favorite player on the team, no offense to the Sidney Crosby fans out there.  As for football, I collect certain players I like and thats all.  Enough of the talk, let's get to some cards.

The Jerome Bettis yellow jersey card is from 2002 Donruss Classics. It's serially numbered 160/500
The Darrelle Revis autograph is from 2007 Press Pass

I really like this dual jersey card of Kris Letang and Max Talbot. It's serial numbered 84/599

This Jordan Staal Pinnacle City Lights card is my favorite hockey card I own. It's serially numbered 6/25 and has an awesome 2 color patch.
