First off, how about that Charlie Morton? He pitched 8 shutout innings while striking out 4 batters, giving up 6 hits, and walking 3 batters. Another strong pitching performance by Ground Chuck to stop the Pirates 10 game losing streak. Way to go Charlie!
Now for other news, Jason Bay launched a solo homerun in the Mets triumph over the San Diego Padres last night. Big deal, right? Well it is if you're Canadian, which Jason is. He is just the 3rd player in MLB history to hit 200 HR who was born in Canada. The other two: Larry Walker and recently retired Matt Stairs. Keep on crushing the ball. As an added note I have added all my relics and autos of Jason Bay and created a link for them over there ------>
I currently have 5 autos, 11 relics, and 1 auto/relic
Another significant milestone came last night when Andrew McCutchen hit his 400th career hit at the age of 24. Sure he's got a long ways to go to be at the level of Clemente and the like, but he's off to a very good start. Since his debut in June 2009, only 5 other players have had more hits than him through that time period. That's pretty damn impressive for a guy that's still only 24.
Here's a 2010 Topps Heritage IP AUTO of Cutch and Garrett Fricking Jones. Jonesy had an excellent night last night going 4 for 5 at the plate.with 2 runs scored.
